Establish the starting point
Was the queen on the board, being attempted or being covered? Note the pocketed pieces and the stage of play before looking for an answer.
Check a special condition
Rule 95(d) addresses queen and striker pocketed while all nine of the player’s carrommen remain: queen returned, a due declared, turn lost.
Avoid a broad shortcut
This is a specific condition, not a summary of every queen-and-striker situation. Later provisions address other combinations. Compare the complete circumstances.
A learning exercise
Write two question cards with different starting layouts. For each, identify which extra information you would need before applying a rule.
