First, name the situation
Did the striker enter a pocket, was a piece disturbed, or is there a question about the stroke itself? Write a neutral description before assigning a penalty.
Read the classification
The cited Laws distinguish technical fouls from fouls; timing within the turn matters. Read Rules 62–64 before deciding which category applies.
Use the narrowest example
Our scenarios focus on specific, stated conditions. A change to the pieces involved or the stage of play may require a different rule.
